CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT TO THE SEMI FINALS OF THE BEST OF THE WEST MUSIC SERIES!!!!
Remember the top two bands from each Semi Final will advance to the Finals!!!
You are the Top NINE bands in the state and Westword, Herman's Hideaway, Colorado Sound & Red Rocks are all VERY excited about this group representing the Mile High City.
What you're competing for:
The Grand Prize is: $4,000 cash, 50 hours of recording/mixing/mastering @ Colorado Sound with JP Manza (estimated value $7000), Main Stage for the 2010 Summer Series of Film on the Rocks @ Red Rocks, a professional photo shoot, a regional endorsement from Sabian Cymbals, a custom banner for your band (4' x 20' full color) from Coors/Blue Moon and more!
We want to be clear on how the event is going to be judged in the Semi Finals and the Finals.
1) Quality of Your Performance
Basically how good you perform. How is your stage presence, your musicianship, chemistry, image, sound, originality, etc...
2) Crowd Appeal (Draw)
Red Rocks needs to know you can help fill a multi thousand person venue!! **Know that for the final rounds of this music series that draw is a HUGE deciding factor and judges will take your final ticket count and crowd reaction into consideration when making their decision. We will use a DB meter at the end of the night--not after each band's performance....so keep your fans around till the end!
3) Commercial Appeal/Producability
We are looking for a band that has the ability to record an amazing album, appeal to an audience, sell records, sell tickets and represent the Mile High City. Colorado Sound and Red Rocks are a very big part of this event so they will be looking for a band that can go the distance!
**Draw will determine the order in the Finals. The top drawing band in the Semi Finals will have first choice of their slot in the Finals on Feb. 26th, the 2nd highest drawing band will choose second and so forth. The top two bands from each Semi Final will advance to the Finals!!!
Each band is still guaranteed $100 but if you work extremely hard and draw a large crowd (70+ people) you will receive a substantial cash bonus from Herman's Hideaway!
Here are ways you can bring your people and boost your draw:
1) Hard Tickets (If you have not picked them up please do ASAP--they are here and ready to be picked up!!! If you need to come during the day give us a call at 303.777.2535)
2) Online Tickets--we emailed you all a JPEG of your night's ticket. Post those to your web sites/MySpace/Facebook and send them in EMails.
3) Text Tickets--send out a text saying "(Your Band) is playing (date) in the Semi Finals of Westword's Best of the West @ Herman's Hideaway. Show this text at the door for 1/2 price admission!)
4) SECRET ADMISSION PHRASE--Every band can have a code word/phrase that your fans can say at the door. You guys can come up with your band's secret phrase (ex: the best song off your last album). Shoot us an email or tell us at the beginning of the night what your code/phrase is so we know before your show. This will get your fans in for 1/2 price.
**Online voting, which accounts for a small percentage of your total score at the end of the entire competition, will start at the end of the week at LocalsCut.com.
Your fans can vote until the Thursday before the Finals. **We will also take the amount of votes your band gets on line prior to your Semi Final into account when choosing which bands advance--but ultimately online voting will be used as a factor to help us determine the winner of Best of the West after Feb. 26th.

Soon after this is over, we will be throwing a fan and friend appreciation party. We don't quite know how, but everybody who helps us out with this will get some sort of VIP treatment @ the party. Save your tickets from the show... we'll use those in some way.
